gambling getting a bit to much?

Charlotte Bryar: Have automatic deductions taken from your pay / bank account every two weeks into a saving account or an investment account, most banks have this kind of facility. You can't touch the money for a couple of years, then after that time period you have a nice little nest egg. Close all accounts, avoid walking past gambling establishments, find an activity that occupies the spare time you havetry 'gamcare' or gamblers anonymous or some other self help group.asking here is like asking a wine connoisseur how to stop drinking....Show more

David Kuper: One and a half good answers so far. Everything Betty said was great advice, and half of what mr.longshot was good, too.Yes, on-line casinos are junk. Leave it at that, though! Don't suggest to a gambling addict that they'd be better off at a live casino, or by playing on-line poker! That's NOT good advice!!!To be extra clear about these on-line casinos - They have been put on the internet for ONE REASON O! NLY - that is to TAKE your money, not to give you any! You have got to be a fool to open any more accounts on-line. Stay away from on-line casinos above all else.As far as your gambling in general, I've been where you are. I TOTALLY understand that "forgetting" when 2 weeks have gone by. It's a lot easier to forget how horrible you felt than people might imagine.I made a few gigantic mistakes in my life. The biggest mistake I ever made was NOT just in becoming addicted to gambling like you are. No. The biggest mistake was in thinking I could "get over it" all by myself!Because I was stubborn, and thought I could "get over it" by myself, it cost me about a decade of my life. Just imagine that it's 10 years from now. You're 10 years older, yet you're in the same situation as you are right now, if not worse. AND in all that time, you still haven't been able to afford a holiday!!!If you think you're depressed now, imagine how it's going to feel after 10 more years go ! by?!? It continues to get worse, I promise you.The best thing! you can do is to not try hiding this problem anymore. Get some REAL help from REAL people! Here's the hardest part - That "real help" includes talking with people close to you. Family and friends. You are going to get beyond this much quicker if you talk with people and ask them for some help. NOT financial help! Only an idiot would give money to a person with a gambling problem. I'm talking about having them help you manage your finances, and to manage your time and what you do with yourself throughout the week. If you can, try to afford some sort of professional help, too.You sound a lot like me. I had a good job, and I was able to "survive" 2 weeks at a time. Things didn't ever get better, but things ultimately got worse when I racked up credit card debt. By the time I hit rock bottom, I had accumulated more debt than I could make in an entire year!My number one bit of advice - Do NOT try to "get over it" all by yourself. It's very hard, I know; but you need! to talk with family and friends about this, and you need to get yourself some serious help.Good luck. Now is when you're really going to need it....Show more

Jammie Taddei: Online casinos are a Rip.. The only things to do online is poker, sports and horses. No site can cheat you on the outcome of a sports event or horse race.. BUT.. some have a weird way of paying out.. Online casinos are JUNK! There is a way to play without getting screwed.. If you like casino action? Go to a casino..The odds are stacked against you there.. But.. Not some electronic butt nugget just taking it.. Never I mean Never download any online casinos on your puter again!!!...Show more

Norine Lomonte: So open up a special savings account at a bank other than the one you normally use...deposit a bit regularly and you won't even miss the money...until you are ready to purchase your travel tickets.
