Nestor Klan: The reason you can't record and watch something different at the same time is that either the Tivo or the Dish receiver (or both) only have one tuner in the box. You need 2 tuners in order for that to work. I believe Dish has a 2 tuner set top box but it is only in their DVR. Tivo has a 2 tuner box in the series 3/TivoHD/Premiere.It sounds like you have a Tivo series 1 or 2 which will work with U-verse. The current Tivo series 3/TivoHD/Premiere will not work with U-verse as they require a cable card and U-verse does not have cable cards due to a different technology....Show more
