Are numbers from a phone booth unpublished? Are they considered land lines?

Burt Cheevers: 1

Marylee Lucks: phone booth numbers are unpublished, meaning that they are not listed with directory assistance, or in the phone book... but they are not "private" numbers... the number should appear on your caller ID display if you are called from a payphone.. payphones are "land line" phones, but there are 2 types of payphones... COCOTS (customer owned coin operated telephone) and payphones owned by the local RBOC (regional bell operating company) they are provisioned differently.. most COCOTS are connected to POTS lines (plain old telephone service) like any other phone... the RBOC payphones are usually on ground start circuits......Show more
