Could some rappers define me these terms with examples!?

Peter Lapoint: Wordplay - A play on words.Example: "I bring the element H with the 2, so ya owe me what's coming when I'm raining on your new parade" (from the song "I Am I Be" by De La Soul). H20 is water, so this is wordplay because he uses H, 2, and owe in the rap and then says that he'll "rain" on your parade.Flow - The way that a rapper sounds. How effective he is at making the things he says sound good. Here are some examples of good flow:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tdMIf9DSe0M

Wally Perrien: Wordplay: None Shall Pass: Aesop Rockhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZEBGCOCxLgA

Coy Tapley: im not a rapper, but ill take a stab at it:Wordplay - how an artist plays with the acoustics or meaning of words for artistic effect within song (can also be associated with rhymes, by including multi-syllabic rhymes, and flow)Flow - the ability to have the rhymes stay with the rhythm by using, or lacking, emphasis and stressRhymes - words that end in the same sounding syll! able; this can be further expanded to include multi-syllabic rhymes; rhymes are the basic foundation of simple poetry and rappingMetaphors - an analogy between two objects or ideas; this allows for imagery and more powerful lyricsMulties - essentially multi-syllabic rhymes, made popular by Rakim; also including internal rhyming withing each barVocabulary - this is more associated with wordplay; usually, vocabulary allows for more expansive rhyme schemes and may allow for more profound lyrics (rarely)Punchlines - essentially jokes; usually they are puns and should be included within wordplay, but they involve metaphors most of the time as welli would add Delivery and Lyrics.Lyrics i would say is just a broader category to put everything you mentioned in.Delivery is different, but still very broad. i would include wordplay and flow within delivery. you could also add Inflexion to delivery, which could also be associated with flow. it is the emphasis a rapper puts behind his w! ords to make things angrier or softer or provide meaning witho! ut verbally saying it....Show more
