Movies should be under Arts and Humanities not under Entertainment and Music?

May Stands: Are you going to pop them for doing that...? There is nothing you can do about it...

Bernie Cerra: You can't "petition" the staff to do anything, particularly HERE on this part of the site. This is strictly a questions and answers site and soliciting people to petition for something is considered a violation. It seems as if you are basically asking HOW to get staff to consider such a change. To do that, you can post your suggestion where it belongs - on the Suggestion Board on the ABOUT tab over the green bar. But bear in mind that the structure of this site has been this way for over 6 years now. I doubt that they will choose to change the location of that category, sorry....Show more

Nannie Kasee: @Minky- Firstly I think it's pointless to continue this discussion with you, however I feel the need of adding a few more comments. Secondly, if we would use you reasoning,- which by the way is wrong but let's for the sake of simplicity assume it right,-! then nothing is art. In a similar way then nothing is entertainment. Then nothing is nothing because everything is subjective. You cannot compare the garbage man to the filmmaker and I don't even know how you thought of it. Anyway I don't feel like presenting a full argument which is clear to me that you would not understand, or would not admit. To put it in technical terms, very simply under the definition of "ART" (universal definition) film is consider an art. Not by scholars, critics, fans, or anyone. Simply by the definition of Art.Look it up if you want. And please don't bring up those completely irrelevant analogies because simply do not make any sense....Show more

Sammy Kar: @Yahzhmin- I know here is not the place. What I'm hoping to do is get attention. If I wrote on the sugestion board (which i did) only, the board would received but no one else would do it. This post is hopefully going to convince people to do the same. That is what I mean by "petition".!

Chet Nozick: man, chill out. nobody cares if you're off! ended and nobody cares about your petitions. as a matter of fact, isn't asking us to do that against the yahoo guidelines? so you're like a rebel without a clue.i dunno but i'm kind of agreeing with the chick above me. seems to be burning your behind and she's cute too. i'll go with her.plus, you seem like kind of a snot. no offense but i'm sure it's not the first time you've been called that. am i right?...Show more

Azzie Trembly: Just how do you come to that onclusion? Movies are entertainment are they not? Since when were they considered as arts or humanities?

Robt Betker: Sorry darlin' but just because you may have studied it or because it may be your passion, movies are just movies and have always been entertainment. Some directors, writers, actors, etc. may consider their work art in the same way that a garbage man considers the extremely special way he flings garbage into the truck, "art," but that doesn't make it art to the global community - just to hi! m and perhaps a few of his colleagues in the garbage man world. So, that's life - get over it.-** Your "additional" pedantic rantings of film as art have further proven my point regarding how just because a garbage man may consider his special method of tossing crap into the back of a garbage truck as art, it doesn't make it "art", or perhaps you need another example. You may consider the method in which you tie the double-knot in your shoelaces to be truly unique and beautiful and worthy of worldly attention...the beautiful Converse shoe surrounded by dare I say, the hands of an artist each day to create a double-knot. But unfortunately, this is not the case - again, although you may make beautiful double-knots in your Converse shoes, this is not "art".- Again, your troop, your colleagues, your academics, your fellow snobs can call it whatever they want (just like the garbageman), it's not art and the rest of the world knows it as do the rest of the posters.LOL...Show more!

Dick Baumgarten: Either people are not taking this seriously and! are joking (in that case it's ok), or simply just don't understand. Just for your information, by definition, film it is considered art by the global community, and it is in fact known as the seventh art. Most people categorize it as a preformance art, some other as a mixture of visual and performance art. The purpose of this post was not to determine whether film is art or not? For that I am certain, and the global community is certain as well. The only thing I wanted to discuss in this post was simply the categorizing methods of Yahoo Answers. So please stop saying that film is not an Art because you make yourself sound stupid....Show more

Florencio Dingle: No, movies is completely right being under the entertainment. How the hell is movies humanity or arts?! YOUR extremely redicoulous, not the site.
