How do you become a top contributor?

Maritza Ebanks: i would think that if you can answer 6 or 7 a day in one category then you will become one. get at least 10% best answers. i just went crazy on hear for a few weeks and it showed up on my profile. i try to answer 5 a day now. if it dissapears then i will go crazy for about 3 days again. smoe days i would answer 20 questions. good luck. and remember, i've read some of your questions and answers, so in my book, ur a TOP CONTRIBUTOR!

Cletus Crotts: DAD (a YA user) has been doing some extensive research on the subject. It seems to be a combination of answers & Best Answers, but can be earned in as little as 1-2 weeks (I got mine in 2 wks), if your BA% is high enough in a single category. The strategy is to answer WELL in one category that you know a lot about. You can probably do it with as little as 4-5 answers per day, according to Dad, if you are getting Best Answers for at least 10% of them....Show more

Refugio Gastineau: A person must do a lot ! of work in 1-3 areas and get a good percentage of best answers.I can't see if there is an number, other than to say it isn't revealed.

Hal Palowoda: I don't think they ever said exactly how many best answers you need in a category to be a "top contributor." I suspect it varies from category to category depending on how popular the category is. Just pick a category that you're good in and answer A LOT of questions in that category and you, too, can be a "top contributor." Don’t believe people when they say “just answer 50 answers in 30 days” or stuff like that. Yahoo keeps it deliberately vague so they never promised an exact figure to anyone. It may, as I said, vary from category to category. However, I have a rough idea of how long it takes to become a top contributor because a friend of mine made it after she answered all her questions in only one (1) category for a month in order to earn that badge. She doesn’t log on as often as I do so that only amounted! to about 85 answers but she made it. She had a 30% “best an! swer rating.”It’s been said somewhere here on Yahoo that you need at least 10% of those answers to be “best answers.” It may take weeks of answering a lot in a category so be patient, Rome wasn't built in a day. Just remember, concentrate your energies on ONE sub-category. Don’t answer all categories say, in Health, but concentrate on Alternative Health or Women’s Health or Men’s Health or Diet and Fitness. The biggest mistake most people make is they spread themselves too thin....Show more

Lissette Semon: A Top Contributor is a member of the Answers community who has shown that they are knowledgeable in a particular category. Each Answers user can be a top contributor in up to three categories. The top contributor badge is dynamic —you earn it or lose it depending on your recent participation in a particular category. The more actively you contribute, the more likely you will earn a badge. Just like featured users or category leaders, it's another way ! to feature community members who might otherwise be overlooked....Show more

Marco Stolarz: No one seems to know the exact formula. It is rumored that you need to answer 45 questions in a category within a 30 day period and have 10% Best Answers. You can have a TC badge in up to 3 categories.

Pam Rampadarat: Wow I thought it might be simpler than that but it isn't. Do you have a link to DAD's research link?I mostly answer in the Education subject, so I guess I'll continue on in that one.Cheers!...Show more
