why is teaching in primary schools still seen as a woman's job?

Germaine Tieken: Men are too damn afraid to get into teaching. And can you really blame them? Way too many little 13, 14, 15 year old tramps looking for a guy to ruin.

Johnny Sirko: Primary school teaching offers great hours, but low pay, something that appeals to many women, but many males feel they can't afford.As the article indicates, there is also a bias against male teachers. In the U.S. schools were actively encouraged to hire even more female teachers and fewer male teachers by the Women's Educational Equity Act Center.As the article also indicates, boys and girls learn differently and male and female teachers tend to teach differently, so discouraging males from going into teaching is not helpful....Show more
