Have a tv and ps3 with optical. Home theater without.?

Wilfred Santacruce: Well you can get sound, but there is no way to get surround sound without an optical or HDMI connection. Like the previous poster said just connect it with the red and white rca cables. It will only be stereo though.

Mitsuko Manne: Connect red & white cables from PS3 and Xbox to sound system for audio.

Neville Dautremont: If you do not have an optical audio connection on your home theater, your only choice would be to connect the red and white rca jacks from your PS3 or XBOX to the home theater. Check to make sure sure that your system has that audio input, if not you have to purchase a new home theater. Home theater in a box are not very flexible in adding anything to them and they are not very reliable at all. Keep in mind, you get what you pay for. Hope this will help you out.

Delora Struzzi: The optical audio output on the tv is a digital signal that can carry the 5.1 surround sound. You connect it from the tv to your home thea! ter in a box. If the tv program is in dolby digital then you will have surround sound. Hope this will help you out.
