Cletus Makler: it is actually very simple.. i have been working on cars since i was 8 years old.. just takes some studying and practice.. find someone willing to work with you and do research online..
Ramona Pago: If you are just talking about changing the oil, oil filter, and air air filter, of course you can do it yourself. It should cost you roughly 35-65 bucks depending on the oil you use. You just need to go buy 6 quarts of 10W30 motor oil (this is the standard weight used most commen in passenger cars, ask a clerk at your local auto store whats best for your car specifically) You also need an oil pan to drain the old oil out. Now get under your car, twist off the oil plug (it should be obvious) and let the oil flow out into the oil pan you got. Let it drain for about 5 min. Now twist off the oil filter and twist the new on in its place. ( You will be able to recogzise the oil filter bt looking at the new one you just bought. Once the filters done, get a rag an! d clean all excess oil off and make sure the new filter is tight in place. Now one the oil has stopped draining, or is at a slow drip every few seconds, replace the oil plug and tighten it back into place. Don't overtighten and strip the threads. Now you can open the hood and pull everything from under the car. Uncap where the oil goes (many people do this as the old oil id draining to get more oil drained) and slowly pour each quart in until you get to the recomended level. Check the level with the dipstick. Now carefully take the old oil to the auto store so they can dispose of it. Option 2 is to just take it to any mechanichs other than the dealership and they should do it for around 40-50 bucks....Show more
Brock Hladik: Either download or buy a hard copy of your vehicles shop manual .It'll detail how to do maintenance, and what special tools you might need. The FSManual will also detail with writing and diagrams every inch of your car, factory part numbers, and t! ools needed for specific repairs. They're always good to have.!
