Is it really necessary to go to an acting school so you can act?

Travis Sherrock: Preparation leads to confidence.Confidence to success.Remember - Fail to prepare - prepare to fail.

Donte Liversedge: I suppose you can just audition, outright. You're supposed to wanna be interested in being in a workshop, Where other thespians can see you work & give you constructive critiques. You, yourself, can also see where you're weak & where you're strong. But, I guess you can just show up to the audition,....break a leg!

Dorinda Metzer: You can audition without the classes but if you want the part it is best to have a good resume so to speak. You have a better chance at getting the part when you take classes.

Newton Fedorko: well, if you're just starting out and know absolutely nothing about acting, than I would highly recomend it. Plus, almost all acting classes put on a play at the end so it'll give you some practice. Also, most directors are pretty harsh. It's best to get used to an acting instructor who has the patience to te! ach you before you start interacting with directors who just get annoyed whenever you don't know something. If you walk into an audition without even knoeing the basics, it's plain and simple, you won't get a part. So, basically, yes, it's absolutely nessary to at least take 1 acting class, because if you have no experience at all, there's no chance....Show more

Patrica Loertscher: of course you do not need to go to acting school, you just need to be born an outstanding actor with the right personality to succeed. REad The Tao of Acting at the link below
